A Cloud-based system (also called an ASP for Application Service Provider or SaaS for Software as a Service) means that medical practice information and software are hosted on the servers at an STI remote location and you access your information via the Internet. With a Cloud-based system you are in effect paying a monthly fee or "renting" the software and only paying as long as you use the system. A Cloud-based system is an alternative to a "Client Server" based system where you are purchasing the software license and hosting the application on your own file server in your location.
Differences between the Cloud and In-House Versions:
With ChartMaker® Cloud, you no longer need to...
- Purchase a dedicated file server or back-up device. Back up and servers are hosted by STI and costs are included in the monthly provider subscription fee.
- Pay for software licenses; this cost is included in the monthly provider subscription fee.
- Pay for software support and updates; this cost is included in the monthly provider subscription fee.
With ChartMaker® Cloud ...
- You need high speed Internet access at your locations. If you lose Internet connectivity you cannot view or use your data for the period in which the Internet connection is lost.
