New ICD-10 Code for COVID-19 – Effective 04/01/2020
Given the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in the declaration of a national emergency in the United States concerning this outbreak, and the urgent need to capture the reporting of this condition in our nation’s claims and surveillance data, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), under the National Emergencies Act Section 201 and 301, is announcing a change in the effective date of the new diagnosis code U07.1 (2019-nCoV acute respiratory disease) for COVID-19, from October 1, 2020 to April 1, 2020. The CDC’s full announcement can be read here.
At STI we are immediately taking measures to get the ChartMaker® Medical Suite updated with this new diagnosis code. A forthcoming hotfix release of our 6.4.5 version of the Medical Suite will be available in the coming week which will include this new diagnostic code, allowing you to utilize this code as soon as it becomes effective.
