Medicare PQRS (Physician Quality Reporting System) Incentive Program

The Physician Quality Reporting System (Physician Quality Reporting or PQRS) is a reporting program that uses a combination of incentive payments and payment Individual eligible professionals do not need to sign-up or pre-register in order to participate in the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS). Eligible professionals, who choose to participate and successfully report on designated quality measures for services paid under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2013, may earn a bonus payment of 0.5%. The 0.5% bonus is based on Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) charges paid during the 2013 calendar year, processed no later than 2 months after the end of the reporting period. If an eligible professional should choose not to participate in the PQRS 2013 reporting then they will be subject to a payment adjustment equal to 1.5% of their Medicare PFS allowable charges. This payment adjustment will be implemented in 2015. The payment adjustment/penalty increases to 2% in 2016.

To assist you in performing this function you have the ability to configure this information in a chart note and then you can send diagnosis and procedure information to Practice Manager as a pending charge. From the Template Editor you can add a PQRS Procedure to a Procedure Checklist. Or, if the PQRS procedure is not in the checklist, you can add the procedure to a chart note by clicking the Other button in a procedure checklist, and then select the PQRS procedure you wish to use from the tables (the code must be entered into Practice Manger prior to being able to select this code).
